Inspired by the quaint boutiques of Europe, Trudy set a plan to curate a collection of well-crated, artistically-designed yet dare say "comfortable" shoes & accessories and founded A Pied in 2008.
As an avid partaker in all things sports: from jogging to skiing, and skating to basketball, Trudy knew she needed to keep her feet and knees healthy in order to participate in high intensity activities for the rest of her life. At 25, as a magazine executive, while running between meetings downtown in high heels she felt her knees for the first time. She knew she needed to "balance" her body by wearing well-made high heels some days and flats on others.
Out of this knowledge, and her love for fashion and travel Trudy decided to have her cake and eat it too and opened A Pied! Now you can travel to Europe without stepping onto a plane, and find the everything from leather sneakers to 4 inch gala sandals. With Matt, her husband, manning the store most days the growth in the men's collection is evident. Each year they work with designers and manufacturers from Europe, the Americas and Asia to stay on top of the trends while diligently asking all the tough questions about quality and comfort.
